THE MOO SA DO SYMBOL
This symbol represents the philosophy of our Style Moo Sa Do and Art Tang Soo Do. Below is the basic interpretation but with more training you will discover its deeper meanings.

All together there are 13 elements to this symbol (1) belt, (7) stars, (1) fist, (3) Chinese Characters (1) Knot Pentagon = 13. Thirteen represents the Ship (ten) Sam (3) Seh postures. Or the 13 energies that make up all martial arts movements.
The Belt: the Midnight Blue Belt represents the element water. We need Water to nourish and purify (clean) ourselves. It is vital for life. Water adapts, flows. Midnight Blue also represents the Autumn Fall sky.
The 7 Stars: Represent the Seven Levels of Centeredness 1) Connect to your center 2) maintain your center while still 3) maintain your center while moving 4) maintain your center wit a group 5) maintain your center with a cooperative partner 6) maintain your center with an uncooperative partner 7) maintain your center in chaos/danger
The fist inside the belt represents inner strength. The belt represents outward calm and gentleness. It also represents Justice and self control.
The three Chinese characters are: 武 Moo – Warrior, 道 Do – The Way, 士 Sa – Scholar or The Way of the Warrior Scholar. This denotes our style of Tang Soo Do (art) Tang Soo Do Moo Sa Do Kwan.
The Pentagon (knot) symbolizes Unity and the five sides represent the Five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water) which also represent our belt colors (white/metal, orange/earth, green/wood, red/fire, blue/water).
